A Few Notes On Pi

The number Pi is a mathematical constant, the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. It can be proven that Pi is an irrational number. With pi, being an irrational number, Pi cannot be expressed exactly as a fraction (equivalently, its decimal representation never ends and never settles into a permanent repeating pattern).We have known since the 18th century that we will never be able to calculate all the digits of Pi because it is an irrational number, one that continues forever without any repeating pattern. Mathematicians and computer scientists have been able to calculate the decimal representation of Pi to many trillions of digits after the decimal point. We typically think of Pi as approximately 3.14 but, at November 2016, it’s value was worked out to 22.4 trillion digits after the decimal point.

A circle is the path of a point traveling an equal distance around a fixed point. The distance that the point travels, the length of the path, is called the circumference of the circle. The distance from the fixed point, its center, to the edge of the circle, is called the radius. Two times the radius equals the diameter, the distance from one side of the circle, through its center to the other side.

If we take the circumference of a circle and divide it by twice the radius you will always get the same answer; 3.14… a never-ending decimal number.

π = Circumference/ Diameter

No matter how large or small the circle, the ratio of its circumference to twice its radius is always the same: 3.14… Only the Creator Elohim could design such a constant in His creation. We can think of this constant as an “Absolute Truth”.

Pi can be compared (lightly) to eternity.
