For some of you community may be foreign, a word used loosely yet something new - but also nothing that you are use to.
The word “community” has a strong power to it. It conveys a sense of togetherness and positivity. It speaks both of solidarity and homeliness.
A real community is a group of people who:
Share something in common
At the bare bones of it all foundationally We share a belief that there is one God revealed in three coequal and distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
There are some important characteristics that a community exhibits. Some characteristics of a community include: Communication, Presence, Participation, openness, Source of identity and security.
Communities provide support, social interaction, and a shared identity.
Communities do not work in silos.
The practice of working in a silo usually involves intentionally insulating hiding information, not collaborating well or simply doing things that misaligned with the heart of the community .
In the word we see many mentions of community - to name a few :
Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another
Matthew 18:20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them
1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
There are so many more scriptures to pick from but you got the just of it. God love's community.
To be apart of a community one must show intentional efforts in communication, support, as well You as a community member need to take an active social role in building and sustaining the community,
As a community, and a safe space we must all do our part to support eachother, to share, to be open.
Learning to be a part of a community maybe a bit of a learning curve for some due to ways of living but remember we are In a new season .
Step out of your comfort zone and be open, and ok with sharing.
Reject the isolation and division of our times, and embrace authentic, vulnerable, meanful relationships together. We can do this.
Manipulation is at the center of religious cults. There's so safety to be honest and authentic. We don't allow that here.
I'd like to add that there are stigma attached to "safe" communities. In order for a community to be a safe space, there will be opposition, confrontation, and conflict to ensure it's safety. I have no problem protecting my safe spaces in community.
Honey this is it! @Tameka Franklin
