Leviathan: The Enemy You Will Face After the Transition

Leviathan is a carrier of self righteousness and pride. Much like the nature of a crocodile, this principality sends its foot soldiers to lurk intentionally around God’s anointed, gathering information, stealing intellectual property, coveting gifts, and sowing discord, all with the ultimate goal of consuming and usurping.

In the spirit, I saw Leviathan as an ethereal serpent with piercing eyes. This symbolized the evil intent behind the monitoring and destiny theft that has occurred in the lives of many pioneers.

In a series of dreams, I encountered this principality. I saw it twist the truth, monitor its prey to locate weakness, and seek control. In prayer, I heard the Lord say that His pioneers must prepare for direct confrontation with those operating under the influence of Leviathan.

When people function under this spirit’s influence, they become resistant to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. They cannot receive truth, especially from the mouth of someone this principality considers prey. Proverbs 2:20-28 ESV illustrates the contention of leviathan:

“For lack of wood the fire goes out, and where there is no whisperer, quarreling ceases. As charcoal to hot embers and wood to fire, so is a quarrelsome man for kindling strife. The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels; they go down into the inner parts of the body. Like the glaze covering an earthen vessel are fervent lips with an evil heart. Whoever hates disguises himself with his lips and harbors deceit in his heart; when he speaks graciously, believe him not, for there are seven abominations in his heart; though his hatred be covered with deception, his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly. Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and a stone will come back on him who starts it rolling. A lying tongue hates its victims, and a flattering mouth works ruin.”

‭‭

You must be certain of the word of the Lord over your life and the blueprints the Holy Spirit has given you.

It will be tested.

It will be mocked.

You will be tested.

You will be mocked.

But Leviathan will be defeated, and the plan of God will stand. Be encouraged, these confrontations will give God the glory.

False Movements

Just as pioneers have been given structures and systems to build, Leviathan will attempt to build counterfeit systems to feed its pride. In these copycat false movements, discipleship turns into photo opportunities. Volunteering becomes social currency. Leadership fractures into factions and miniature religious cults.

These movements will fail because their foundation is not the gospel of Jesus Christ. Their foundation is comparison, covetousness, and pride.

These false movements are nothing more than pep rallies for bruised egos, and we will see the manifestation of their rotten fruit. Exposure ministries are rising with a call for accountability and reckoning. Likewise, there is a clarion call to repent of vain ambitions masked as doing God’s will.

Now is the time to examine your heart and evaluate your relationship with God and others. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you through these reflection points:

What truth am I refusing to believe?

What truth is being overshadowed by lies?

Am I talking too much?

Am I projecting my feelings onto others in a harmful way?

What do I need to heal from?

Who do I need to heal from?

How am I treating others?

Am I motivated by jealousy or selfish ambition?

Are my actions rooted in pride?

Am I compromising my faith?

Am I under the control of sin?

Do I have an inflated view of my importance or abilities?

Do I focus excessively on my lack of gifts or abilities?

Do I become defensive and blame others?

Am I devastated or angered by criticism?

Do I lack compassion?

Do I resist authority?

Do I use others?

Am I deceitful?

Do I monitor the lives of others to feel better about myself?

How is my relationship with God?

Am I ruled by pleasure or lust?

Who do I need to apologize to?

Am I growing in my desire and action to give sacrificially to God’s work in the church, in caring for the poor, and in other ministries?

Am I living in humility before God?

Do I see evidence of the fruit of the Spirit in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control?

Am I learning to see others through the mind of Christ?

Am I being salt and light in my neighborhood, workplace, and social circles?

Have I fully surrendered to the Holy Spirit?

Nothing matters more than being in right relationship with God. Pride is one of the enemy’s most powerful tools. It distorts reality and deceives you into believing you are right, even when you are not.

Clean hands.

Pure heart.
